Workplace Discrimination

State and Federal Laws prohibit employers from discriminating in any job related action, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, promotions, discharge, compensation, and other areas. Protected categories include race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, age, gender, pregnancy status, marital status, domestic partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, liability for military service, or mental or physical disability.

Sexual Harassment

State and Federal Laws prohibits sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual relations or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. There are generally two types of sexual harassment. it is unlawful for an employer or an employer's agent to condition favorable treatment such as promotions, salary increases, or preferred assignments, on an employee's acceptance of sexual advances or relations.

Wrongful Termination

State and Federal Laws regulated wrongful termination. "At Will" employment gives employers the right to terminate a position for any reason, however, wrongful termination would exists if the employee has issues that are specifically protected in federal and state laws.

Benefit + Pension Law

The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) is a federal law that sets minimum standards for most voluntarily established retirement and health plans in private industry to provide protection for individuals in these plans.

ERISA requires plans to provide participants with information about the plan important information about plan features and funding; provides fiduciary responsibilities for those who manage and control plan assets; requires plans to establish a grievance and appeals process for participants to get benefits from their plans; and gives participants the right to sue for benefits and breaches of fiduciary duty.
